BCA-Supported 'The Making of Kangie' Slated for Oct. 25 Premiere at SVAPFF
“The Making of Kangie,” a film developed with the support of the BCA Music Committee, the Bishop’s Expansion Fund and Dharma Forward, has been accepted into the Silicon Valley Asian Pacific Film Festival (SVAPFF).
Directed by Derek Nakamoto, the documentary features BCA Minister Emeritus Rev. Mas Kodani, the retired longtime Senshin Buddhist Temple Resident Minister; iconic Asian American singer and activist and Senshin member Nobuko Miyamoto; and the creation of “Kangie,” the music and dance commissioned by the BCA Music Committee.
The festival, presented by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene (CATS), will show the film at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, at the Sunnyvale AMC Theatre, in the section, “Shorts Collection: Learn Who We Are.” Ticket information is available at SVAPfilmfest.org.
