Coast District Hosts Joint Celebration

The Coast District hosted a joint Gotan-E and BCA 125th anniversary celebration on May 19 at the San Jose Betsuin Buddhist Temple.

Bishop Rev. Marvin Harada officiated the ceremony. All the Coast District Kaikyoshi ministers, Tokudo Minister’s Assistants, district-level MAs, and many lay participants gathered to chant “Shuso Sango Saho.”

Twenty-six Dharma School students took part in the procession as chigos and brightened the special ceremony. 

Rev. Dennis Shinseki, who will shortly retire from the BCA, was a guest speaker and shared the joy of the Nembutsu while looking back on his ministerial life. The ceremony ended successfully with the Nembutsu echoing throughout the Hondo.
