Meet Alex Tsukahara, BCA’s New Digital Content Assistant

Dear BCA Members and Friends, my name is Alex Tsukahara and I

recently joined the BCA staff as the new Digital Content Assistant.

My journey with Buddhism began at the Mountain View Buddhist Temple

and Lotus Preschool at San Jose Betsuin. I remember not being able to sit

through services as a child and feeling that they would just never end. As I

grew older, though, my involvement at temple increased and I learned what

it truly means to be a part of a Sangha.

I participated in Miroku, Mountain View’s version of YBA for middle school-

aged kids, and developed many strong friendships that will last a lifetime. I

later joined Jr. YBA and had many amazing memories. From going to

conferences and seeing friends from other temples, to our annual camping

trip at New Brighton State Beach, I would always look forward to spending

time with my fellow YBA members, and continued to be involved in the

great community present there.

When it came time to leave for college, I was sad that everything was

changing, but remembered Rev. Mukojima’s teachings about

impermanence and how you will always have to deal with change

throughout life. I decided to attend California Polytechnic State University

San Luis Obispo, where I graduated virtually this past spring during the

COVID-19 pandemic. Since then, I have moved back to my hometown of

Saratoga, California.

When I learned about the Digital Content Assistant position, I knew it would

be a great way to use my content production skills to improve BCA’s digital

marketing efforts. Now that I’m on staff, I’m excited to help modernize the

BCA’s online presence through improving our website, social media, photo

and video content to help share the teachings of the Buddha with others.

To contact me, here’s my email: atsukahara@bcahq.org.
