BCA Event Back by Popular Demand

If you missed last year’s outstanding BCA Members Red Carpet Weekend (RCW), now is your chance to attend in 2026.  

This year’s BCA Members Red Carpet Weekend gathering will take place Aug. 28-30 at the Jodo Shinshu Center (JSC) in Berkeley, California. Join us for an inspiring weekend of meaningful connections, enriching experiences and uplifting moments of fun.  

We are especially grateful to those who attended the first BCA Members Red Carpet Weekend last year for their thoughtful feedback and valuable suggestions, which are promising to help make this year’s event even more enjoyable and rewarding.  

The BCA Members Red Carpet Weekend is open to all BCA temple members 18 years and older. Both first-time attendees as well as returning members are welcome to attend.

New in 2026

President’s Town Hall: Last year’s participants told us they would like more opportunities to hear from one another about temple life. In response, BCA President Glenn Inanaga will moderate a town hall session where participants can openly share thoughts, questions, ideas and experiences from their temples. We may each come from different home temples, but we all belong to the BCA family.

What’s new in BCA? We’re excited to share some of the latest developments in BCA — initiatives and updates that we believe will strengthen our shared future. We think members will be excited about them, too.

Evening Social with BCA Senior Leadership: Last year’s participants shared that they appreciated the opportunity to meet BCA leaders and staff. This year, members of the BCA executive team will join participants for an informal Saturday evening gathering. This is a wonderful opportunity for attendees to meet BCA leaders and bond over delicious desserts and refreshments.

Returning in 2026

By popular demand, we will have an encore session with BCA Bishop Rev. Marvin Harada. Last year’s participants let us know that the Bishop’s session was one of the most enjoyable highlights of the entire event. This year’s RCW will offer another opportunity to ask the Bishop whatever is on your mind and hear the Bishop’s reflections and insights.  

Rev. Harada will also conduct a Kieshiki affirmation ceremony for those participants who make prior arrangements to receive a Homyo, or Buddhist name (a $50 administrative fee applies). 

We are once again offering first-time attendees the rare opportunity to view the Holy Relics enshrined inside the stupa atop the Buddhist Church of San Francisco. Continuing the tradition from last year, the weekend will conclude with a special musical offering service, featuring songs and performances that beautifully convey the Dharma and touch our hearts.

Meals and lodging at the JSC are free of charge, thanks to generous grants from Dharma Forward, the Bishop’s Expansion Fund, the Bloomquist Education Endowment and contributions from Bay, Northern and Southern districts.
